The Killerspin JET200 is the second most affordable killerspin ping pong paddle in Killerspin’s eight-part JET line of prefabricated paddles. Killerspin Jet 200 Ping Pong Paddle is a relatively new American Ping Pong company that has mostly targeted the recreational market. To cater to the subterranean US audience, they’ve even dubbed their bats and rackets “paddles.”
Their paddles aren’t cheap, but they’re well-made, and the best of them are also pretty good. The Best rubbers are black and blue rather than the traditional red and black. It also features a green handle and a low-cost five-ply blade. The Killerspin JET200 Ping Pong paddle is one of the most popular on the market for good reason as compared to the Killerspin JET 400 and Killerspin JET 600.
Weight:
The balanced weight distribution and high-quality construction are intended for the all-around ping pong player who places a premium on precision strokes and elegance. The rubbers are probably better than those on some of the shoddy free paddles that come with a table purchase, but they aren’t much better. This is a sluggish and uninspired racket. It will provide some spin, but not much.
As I have stated, my biggest issue with this paddle is the rubber color selection. It implies you won’t be able to enter it into any tournaments or leagues. They’ve just raised the sponge thickness from 1.5mm to 1.8mm and used a blue top sheet instead of a green one.
The Blade and Sponge: Good for Beginners:
One of their entry-level Ping Pong bats, the Killerspin Jet 200, is ideal for novices wanting to upgrade from the paddle that comes with a starting set.
The blade of the Jet200 is made of 5-ply wood with a 1.8mm sponge covering for added lightness. A sponge thickness of 1.5mm to 1.8mm is recommended for Ping Pong beginners and recreational players, as the thicker the sponge, the faster the ball will be. It might be scary if you’re not used to using a fast Ping Pong Paddle.
Non-ITTF Approved Rubbers:
The Jet200 doesn’t have any rubbers that are certified by the ITTF (International Ping Pong Federation), therefore you won’t be able to use it in official competitions, but it wasn’t made for serious players. We don’t mind because Killerspin is targeting the recreational player market. Killerspin Jet 200 Ping Pong Paddle although the Ping Pong rubbers aren’t of great quality.
Despite this, Killerspin has awarded the Jet 200 a spin rating of 7.0, which is sufficient for learning Ping Pong basics and becoming acclimated before moving to more sticky rubbers.BluVanilla, Mocha and Lime, and Black are the four colors offered for the Killerspin Jet 200.
Comfortable Flared Handle Grip:
This paddle has a shakehand flared grip handle. That means the handle widens as it gets closer to the end, making it more comfortable to hold and less likely to fall out.
Some consumers claimed that the handle was of poor quality and that it would break off after a hard impact or a lot of use. They say you can glue it back on and it will still work, but it isn’t ideal. Still, given the price, it’s understandable that the quality won’t be perfect.
Comes with a Nice Gift Box:
This has nothing to do with the paddle’s performance or quality, but it does include a lovely memory book box that may be used as a case. We usually recommend purchasing a paddle case for your Ping Pong to make it last longer, and the fact that it comes with one is a bonus because it’s one less item you’ll have to buy. If you’re interested, we have a post on some of our best ping pong paddle cases here.
Pros
- Excellent control rating – With a moderate speed rating and a relatively high control rating, it is perfect for Ping Pong beginners.
- Reasonably priced — This is perhaps the cheapest ping pong paddle we’ve seen that isn’t included as part of a Ping Pong set.
- There is a box included that can be used as a carrying case, so you won’t need to buy a protective case because you can store it in the box.
- Killerspin offers a 30-day money-back guarantee (so make sure you inspect the ping pong paddle as soon as it arrives to check for any damage during shipping)
Cons
- Poor speed rating – The Jet 200 is good for beginners, but expert players will find it restrictive.
- Not the finest grip — the flared handle isn’t of the highest quality.
- ITTF disapproval – Regrettably, the Killerspin Jet 200 does not satisfy the criteria for participation in sanctioned competitions.
Conclusion:
Finally, the Killerspin Jet 200 is a wonderful paddle for beginning and recreational Ping Pong players seeking a decent, low-cost racket with excellent control. It’s a step better from the paddle you discovered in the attic, but it’s not going to win any prizes for ratings.
If you’re over the novice level, though, you can purchase a very comparable ping pong paddle with higher reviews and build quality for not much more money than the Killerspin Jet 200. It will probably suffice if you are a casual recreational player, but if you begin to take your Ping Pong game more seriously, you will want to upgrade to something better like Killerspin JET 800.
